Kevin Hodes, CEO of Credit Card Processing Company Swypit, Publishes New Article With Advice for Learning to Ask for Favors in Business

Press Releases

Frisco, TX – May 21, 2018 – Kevin Hodes, CEO of Swypit has published a new article entitled “How to Ask for Favors in Business.” In the article, Hodes elaborates on a previous article that discussed the advantages of networking for business. He expands the premise to discuss the idea of “social capital” and how you can utilize this concept to further grow your business.

In emphasizing the importance of this concept, Hodes explains, “Whether they’re giving you a job recommendation, introducing you to a potential client, or just giving some career advice, your professional contacts can make the biggest difference in helping you achieve your career goals. Though favors sound nice, they do often come at a cost. If you want someone to do you a favor, you need to build your social capital first.”

Social capital, as he describes it, is a process by which you leverage your interpersonal connections as an asset. In this process, you provide value and benefits to your contacts in order to build your social capital “account.” This primes the relationship for when you need to ask for help – or favors – later.

Hodes goes on to say, “Essential is avoiding the tendency to only reach out when YOU need something. Instead, main consistent contact over time and offer your help when and where you can. Being thoughtful and considerate first, will help you build and nurture that relationship and demonstrate respect. In return, this will later give you the right to ask for favors or help too.”

To further enhance the idea of social capital, Hodes then provides a checklist to consider before asking for such favors. First being that you start by utilizing LinkedIn to stay up-to-date on what is happening in the lives of your connections so that you can use such happenings as an opportunity to reach out and nurture that connection further. He also recommends keeping your connections “top of mind” and reaching out to them with helpful tips – articles and information – that you think they might find useful.
